On Saturday, March 7, the Smith Pioneers, which include former Everett High standout Ella Sylvester, were narrowly defeated 74-70 by the Bates Bobcats in the NCAA Division III Basketball Tournament.

The contest was held at Alumni Gymnasium at 7:15 p.m. and marked the teams’ first tournament encounter with the Bates Bobcats.
