Monroe School District issued the following announcement on June 25.
The Monroe School District Board of Directors is seeking applicants and nominations to fill the vacant School Board Director of District #5 position. Applicants/Nominees must reside in Director District No. 5 (the boundary map can be found here) and be a registered voter in that district. Applicants will be requested to complete an application for review and screening by the Board of Directors.

All citizens are invited to nominate candidates for the vacant position provided that the nominees are registered voters who reside in the director district in which the vacancy occurs. Upon receipt of a nomination form, the Superintendent will notify the nominee, provide information about becoming a board director, and request that he/she fill out an application if interested in serving on the board. Nominations must be completed online (or received through US Mail) by Tuesday, July 7, 2020

Applicants
Citizens interested in serving as a school board director are invited to submit an application provided that the applicant is a registered voters who resides in the director district in which the vacancy occurs. Applications must be completed online (or received by US Mail) by Thursday, July 9, 2020

Appointment
In case of a board vacancy, the remaining board members will fill such vacancy by appointment. The board will receive applications from any qualified persons seeking to fill the position after suitable public notice. Interviews of candidates for vacant positions will take place in a meeting open to the public. The board will appoint one of the candidates to serve until the next regularly scheduled board election, at which time a director will be elected for the unexpired term, if any.
