Although the state of Washington has seen their unemployment rate stall at around 10.2%, Snohomish County has seen more residents get back to work, according to the state Employment Security Department.
Statewide, the counties with the highest unemployment rate were Pend Oreille County (14.4%), Grays Harbor County (14%). In Snohomish County, the unemployment rate was 8.8%, which is a drop of more than two percent over June, when the rate was just over 10%, according to the Everett Herald.
“I think we are still on shaky ground, and a shaky unemployment rate serves as an affirmation of that uncertainty,” said Annelise Vance Sherman in an email. She is a regional labor economist for the Employment Security Department.
This is quite the improvement from April, when Snohomish County’s unemployment rate was the worst in the state, at 20.2%
The leisure and hospitality sector saw an increase of 1,400 jobs, while the aerospace manufacturing sector saw a loss of 1,200 jobs, and education and health services sector saw a decline of 1,000 jobs.
