Leaders of Snohomish County and the City Everett joined forces to create the Better With Boeing initiative, launched with the hope of Washington being the home base for production for Boeing, according to the county website.

The impact of COVID-19 has adversely impacted aviation and aerospace, and Boeing has subsequently been forced to reduce costs and potentially consolidate production. The Dreamliner models are currently constructed in Washington and North Charleston, South Carolina. Better With Boeing aims to show that Boeing is best buit in Washington as the company prepares to consolidate.

“Our partnership with Boeing stretches over fifty years,” Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers said, according to the county website. “Generations of Snohomish County residents have built their careers at Boeing – designers, engineers, machinists and other professionals. They’ve built the company and shaped its success, and we hope this relationship continues for many decades to come.”

Mayor Cassie Franklin added, “Boeing is part of our identity as a region, and we’ve built an incredible aerospace workforce development pipeline here in our community,” according to the county website. “Who doesn’t know someone who works at Boeing? Boeing workers and their families form the fabric of our community and have helped influence the heart and soul of our city. We’re definitely better with Boeing and through the partnerships and skilled workforce we have, Boeing is better with us.”
