EVERETT COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Voter misinformation and suppression panel online discussion Oct. 22

EVERETT, Wash. – Everett Community College is hosting an online panel discussion about voter misinformation and suppression in the United States, including one of the nation’s leading election security expert. 

The panel is 6-7:30 p.m. on Oct 22. To attend, visit EverettCC.edu/TrojansVote and click on registration. The event is open to EvCC students, faculty, staff and the public. 

Speakers will discuss how mail-in voting is secure in Washington state, debunk voting misinformation and discuss past and present methods used in voter suppression. 

Panelist include: Maggie MacAlpine, election security expert, DEF CON Voting Village co-organizer and featured in HBO’s “Kill Chain”; Dennis Skarr, EvCC Computer Information Systems instructor and former Washington State National Guard member, Janice Greene, president of NAACP Snohomish County; and Garth Fell, Snohomish County Auditor.

The panel moderator is Ciera Graham, Director of EvCC’s East County Campus. The panel is hosted by EvCC’s Business and Applied Technology Division. 

This event is part of the EvCC Trojans Vote initiative with the end goal of providing voter education to students, staff, faculty and community members. For more information, visit EverettCC.edu/TrojansVote.
