The Marine Resources Committee is seeking new members to fill vacancies on its board.

"The committee is seeking up to four new members motivated and eager," Snohomish County said in a Nov. 20 release, "to learn about marine conservation, participate in science-based research and contribute to policy recommendations on marine issues as a part of the [Marine Resource Committee]."

Committee members are tasked with making recommendations to policymakers such as the county executive, the release said. Selected members will serve a three-year term, though two additionals terms are possible.

"The MRC is involved in creating and piloting marine ecology research projects and tools such as the recent Snohomish Estuary Creosote Piling Prioritization Plan and removal of derelict vessels," the release said.

The 12-member committee has public servants, tribal governments, scientists, and those with backgrounds related to fishing, marinas, railroads or housing projects, the release said.

The deadline to apply is Saturday, Dec. 20. There is an online application.
