Everett Community College recently issued the following announcement on  Feb. 8.

Start your training for an in-demand aviation maintenance job this spring with second-shift classes at Everett Community College’s Aviation Maintenance Technician School.

Classes start April 4 and are offered in-person 3 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. Future students can learn more by attending an in-person or online information session at 3 p.m. on Feb. 17, Feb. 24 or March 2.

“Aviation industry expansion slowed during COVID-19, but the demand for aviation mechanics remained in high demand as older technicians retire. With the industry recovery, the demand for mechanics to maintain aircraft and keep them safe to fly is expected to increase,” said EvCC Associate Vice President for Professional and Technical Education Timm Lovitt.

EvCC's FAA-Approved Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School, located at Paine Field, has been providing training for more than 50 years. Second-shift classes make it possible for students like Rosemary Carrizales.

“I love not working in a conventional office setting, working with my hands and being physically active. All of these things just fit right into being a mechanic in aviation so I fell right into loving it,” said Carrizales, who works a full-time job and attends second-shift aviation maintenance classes.

EvCC’s aviation maintenance program offers stackable certificates and associate degrees. Students learn from industry experts and get practical, hands-on experience in a shop environment.

EvCC’s eight-quarter aviation maintenance technician program includes 2,247 hours of instruction in over 40 subject areas, with work being done on a variety of fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. Students learn to maintain both reciprocating and turbine engines, repairing systems and components.
