Because spring cleaning doesn’t just end at our front doors or property lines, the City of Marysville is announcing a new volunteer litter pickup program.
“Litter is a blight on our neighborhoods and detracts from our pride in community,” Mayor Jon Nehring said. “When we join together and each do a little bit, we will greatly improve how our city looks.”
To help this effort, the city is offering free litter pickup kits consisting of pickers, gloves and trash bags. Pick them up at the city’s Earth Day event on Friday, April 22, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Doleshel Park, 9028 67th Ave. N.E., Marysville.
Put out bagged litter collected with your regular household or business trash. If you collect too much to do so easily, you can drop it off for free at the city’s Clean Sweep event the following weekend on Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Marysville Public Works, 80 Columbia Ave.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to pick up litter in typical walking areas in their neighborhoods, not on busy arterial streets. Do not collect anything hazardous. If you find large or dangerous debris on public property, please report it to our Solid Waste division at 360-363-8173.
