Well-kept neighborhoods and business areas provide benefits to both residents and visitors. That’s why the City of Marysville offers Community Beautification Grants.
This program invites homeowners, residents and local business owners in the downtown area to apply for city funding to help beautify outdoor and exterior spaces. This is a competitive grant process. Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3.
Grants of up to $7,500 may be awarded for larger projects and to first-time grant recipients; those who have previously received funding may apply for up to $5,000. Entities who have received funding in two previous grant cycles are not eligible to apply for funding.
Neighborhood project grant funds can be used for completing community landscaping efforts, neighborhood cleanup of common or publicly visible areas, or other projects that help enhance the quality of life for the community.
Business applicants must be located in the downtown area between the south city limit north to 8th Street and the west city limit east to Alder Avenue. Applications that include multiple businesses with a shared frontage or located next to each other are highly encouraged. Businesses can apply for funding for exterior improvements such as façade, aesthetic upgrades, structural improvements, historic restoration, signage and more. Routine maintenance, rebranding or expansion are not eligible.
A committee will review the applications and recommend funding to the City Council for approval in September 2022. Funds are reimbursed upon project completion. Projects must be completed by September 2023 and request for reimbursement submitted by December 2023.
