Join the City of Marysville, Domestic Violence Services and community partners to walk in the Domestic Violence Awareness Walk on Thursday, Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on
Ebey Waterfront Trail at Ebey Waterfront Park, 1404 1st St, Marysville. The group walk starts at 11 a.m., but anyone is welcome to walk the trail anytime during the event. The walk
out and back totals 2.8 miles. The event is free to attend.
In preparation for Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, the city and local community partners have come together to create an awareness campaign about domestic
violence, victim services and other resources that are available in the area.
“Last year this group came together to develop a community partnership to raise awareness about domestic violence in our community,” said Tara Mizell, Director of Parks, Culture,
and Recreation. “This year we decided to add a walking event with food trucks to create visual awareness. This is a great opportunity for the community to join us and show support
for this important cause.”
Food trucks including Dreamy Drinks, Black See Food Truck and QT Food Truck will be at Ebey Waterfront Park with food and coffee drinks for purchase. Domestic Violence
Services will be accepting donations at their booth. Please leave pets at home.
Part of the city’s month-long awareness campaign asks supporters to wear a Domestic Violence T-shirt or another purple shirt each Thursday during the month of October to help
raise awareness for domestic violence. This is part of the effort to “Paint the Town Purple.” Share photos online and tag the City of Marysville Facebook or Instagram page using the
hashtag #BreaktheSilence. A #BreaktheSilence Facebook frame is also available for download; visit marysvillewa.gov/DVAM.
Domestic Awareness Violence T-shirts will be available for purchase the day of the event while supplies last. Cost is $10 each.
