Beginning on October 10th, residents may see arborists from Dudek roaming the streets of Snohomish, measuring and marking down information about the city’s trees. This is all
part of a Tree Inventory project paid for with grant funding from the Department of Natural Resources Urban and Community Forestry program.
The field work should take a couple weeks to complete; once it’s finished the City will have a much better idea of the condition of our urban forest. The next step will be developing a
planting prioritization plan that identifies areas of town with unequal access to trees, followed by tree management discussions, and next year, an update to our tree code.
Don’t be alarmed if you see someone inspecting and measuring the street tree outside your home. The information will be shared with residents once it’s compiled, so stay tuned.
