Next installment of our winter weather adventure!
The next weather system has begun to impact the area. Temperatures have started to warm. Precipitation is likely - beginning as snow, transitioning to freezing rain or a rain/snow mix, then eventually to rain. Side streets may still see ice through the evening as they are not traveled as much.
Rain on snow impacts could lead to urban/small stream flooding.
Rain is likely to increase in intensity Saturday and Sunday with wet/warm systems coming in. Rapidly warming temperatures and moderate to heavy rain could lead to significant rain-on-snow impacts, urban flooding is more of a probability this weekend over river flooding. There is the potential for snow or wintry mix at the Passes, with snow levels rising to 4000 ft by late Saturday.
A persistent series of Atmospheric Rivers may impact the region starting Sunday through New Year’s Day, with river flooding likely, as we see snow melt along with the rain causing rivers to begin to rise across the region. This weather along with King Tides will increase the risk of coastal flooding/erosion from Saturday into next week. The threat will increase Sunday onward as westerly swells increase.
